Malthouse Theatre goes Coaxial

The CUB Malthouse, Melbourne's contemporary arts centre, is home to the Playbox Theatre Company. The Merlyn and the Beckett theatres are part of this magnificent structure and recently the Beckett theatre was re-equipped with a speaker system from L-ACOUSTICS.

The Beckett seats around 200 people on two levels and is used for performing arts, conferences and other functions. The new speaker system comprises a pair of EX112 coaxials and a single SB115 subwoofer.

Commenting on the system, venue technicians Frank Stoffels and Adrian 'funky' Aderhold said “ We chose the boxes for their ease of rigging, versitility and clarity. When we did a comparison with other speakers the L-ACOUSTICS product proved to be far superior in every way “i>

The Beckett system was installed and comissioned by Andrew Hepburn of Safe and Sound Production Services.

Audio Technology Magazine

Writing in the current issue of Audio Technology magazine, Christopher Holder says:

"L-ACOUSTICS has done the live sound community a real favour by persevering with their V-DOSC system. After many years of hard work and many years of sound reinforcement powers at be attempting to scupper this little French company's endeavours, they've changed our expectations of a live gig... for the better. And if imitation is the best form of flattery, then there's a lot of flattery going on out there. Every speaker manufacturer interested in staying relevant in the concert touring market now has a line array system of its own."
